My Girl — Breaking barriers, restoring dignity.

Msichana Wangu Initiative

The Msichana Wangu ("My Girl") program empowers young rural girls within Maasai communities and those with special needs by breaking barriers around menstrual health.

We provide tailored menstrual hygiene education alongside essential dignity packs containing reusable sanitary pads, soap, and undergarments. Recognising that one size does not fit all, we adapt our health education to be inclusive — using visual and tactile tools tailored to the diverse communication needs of girls with disabilities. By demystifying menstruation, fostering body positivity, and combating stigma, the program restores dignity, improves health, and ensures these resilient girls stay in school to confidently pursue their education.

Salama Pads Dignity Packs

Each dignity pack contains reusable sanitary pads, soap, and undergarments — practical tools that remove the single most common barrier to school attendance among rural girls.

Our inclusive approach means materials are adapted for girls with physical and cognitive disabilities, using visual and tactile communication tools developed directly with the communities we serve.
